The Matrix scores low on science, and I'll explain why in a second, but it's still one of the most influential sci-fi films ever made. It took a genuinely deep question into the mainstream: how would you know if the world around you wasn't real? People still seriously debate that today. So why the low science score? The machines keep humans alive to use them as batteries, which makes no sense at all. A human body produces far less energy than it takes to feed it, so the machines would be much better off just burning the food! Still, I'm happy to forgive a lot for a film this much fun.
