Planet of the Apes has one of the most famous endings in film history, and if somehow you don't know it, stop reading and go and watch it! Credit where it's due: the film gets one piece of physics right. Astronauts travelling close to the speed of light age much more slowly than people back home, exactly as Einstein predicted. Unfortunately, the rest falls apart. Apes evolving to talk, build cities and hold trials in a couple of thousand years? Evolution simply doesn't work that fast. That's why the science score is low. But as a story about nuclear fear and blind faith in authority, it still packs a punch.
